I recently won a old revell 1/96th ship scale clipper thermopylae kit on ebay. the kit is a virtual copy of their 1/96th cutty sark with a few modifications. dr. tilly pointed out that the kit has a large hatch between the raised poop deck and the main mast that is fictional and replaces the cutty. The ship, which was christened "the thermopylae" by mrs hardy robinson of denmore, has been throughout constructed after the most approved principles, built of the most durable materials, and classed in the highest range of character at lloyds.. In 1895 thermopylae was sold to the portuguese government who converted her to a training ship and renamed her pedro nunes. some sources have it that the thermopylae came to her end in 1906 when she was torpedoed at sea by units of the portuguese navy..
